The Interviews in this article have been edited for clarity.

There are quite a few majors at RVCC, I have interviewed three students from three different
majors (Communication, Liberal Arts, and Education, and I asked them all similar questions about their
major here are their answers.

The Interview with Liberal Arts major Delaney Garabed:
Colón: Why did you choose your major?
Garabed: I chose my major primarily because RVCC did not offer the major I wanted. Liberal Arts
will help me at a future school where I will pursue a history degree.Colón: What are your classes like? Which is your favorite class for your major?
Garabed: My classes are pretty widespread. I am essentially getting a general education degree, so I
have to take a lot of different subjects, which is good and bad. My favorite classes so far
have been the history classes I’ve taken and the art classes, specifically Ceramics.
Colón: Do you think that RVCC has prepared you for your step after graduation?
Garabed: I have not taken advantage of a lot of the opportunities and offices at RVCC, but I do feel
like RVCC offers a lot of assistance to students for this process. The school is also very
encouraging for transfer students, which makes the process a lot less intimidating.
Colón: What do you say to people looking into declaring your major?
Garabed: Stay open minded. Due to the requirements, there were a few classes I was dreading
because I have very little interest in them but I knew I had to get the requirement so I chose classes that I never would have taken otherwise and found some new interests and enjoyed some aspects of those classes.

The Interview with an Education Major who Wished to Remain Anonymous:
Colón: Why did you choose your major?
Interviewee: I chose my major because I have family who are teachers and my volunteer experience in the field made it seem like a good fit.
Colón: What are your classes like? Which is your favorite class for your major?
Interviewee: They are fun but definitely a lot of work, my favorite is probably Short Story but I may
be biased because English is my best subject.
Colón: Do you think that RVCC has prepared you for your step after graduation?
Interviewee: I think that is well enough but timely feedback can be a struggle with certain professors.
Colón: What do you say to people looking into declaring your major?
Interviewee: First, be sure you have enough time to practice self-care because if you are not feeling your best, the truckload of work gets even more grueling and unbearable. Second, have a laptop and internet
access, nothing is worse than trying to do a timed online test and the horror of your internet
cutting out and your work being erased, have a failsafe option if that does happen.

The Account from Communication Major Sandra Faragalla on Why She Chose her Major:
Hi, my name is Sandra Feral and I have been attending RVCC for the past two and a half years.
I plan on graduating in three years with my major being communications. I chose
communications because I really like to help people communicate with people and I think
communication is a powerful language that many should take into account.

Edit: The surname of Sandra Faragalla was corrected.
